Chiltern District Council

After installation on the main billing meters at the Civic Offices, high levels of night electricity consumption were identified.

In order to narrow down the origin of this excessive consumption, and to create future departmental accountability for localised consumption within the building, the Council requested that we supply, install and monitor a number of additional electricity sub-meters within the building.

The cost of carrying out this work was just a few £100s. This was due to the low cost of electricity sub-meters and the fact that new metering points can easily be added to an Optimal installation without any change to existing hardware.

The net result was that the Council have reduced electricity consumption by more than 10% and have created localised responsibility for departmental consumption via sub-metering. This departmental accountability helps ensure that savings can be maintained in the longer term.
